As part of the 2026 Centennial celebrations, the Byun Shi-ji Foundation is proud to present a ground-breaking AI Film Project. This initiative utilizes state-of-the-art generative technology to breathe motion and life into the master's static canvases, offering a new way to experience the "Windy Island."
By training AI models on Byun Shi-ji’s unique brushwork and ochre palette, the project recreates the roaring winds and shifting shadows of Jeju as the artist might have envisioned them in motion. This digital restoration serves as a bridge between the physical art of the 20th century and the immersive technology of the 21st.
The resulting short film will be premiered at the Centennial Exhibition, providing a sensory-rich journey into the heart of K-Modernism and the enduring spirit of solitude and resilience.
